Maintenance and Care Instructions
General Cleaning
1. Power vacuum or sweep as needed to remove loose dirt grime, lint, and the
like to reduce need for excessive shampooing. Tiles will retain traffic dirt
and protect interior areas. In high traffic areas, daily vacuuming and frequent
shampooing may be necessary.
2. Outdoor installations can be cleaned by hosing to remove dirt and mud. Excessive
water should then be swept off or wet-vacuumed dry.
Shampoo Cleaning
1. When surface becomes heavily soiled, scrubbing with a commercial type rotary
brush shampoo machine and wet-vacuuming is recommended to restore original surface.
2. Outside installations may be shampooed and then rinsed by hosing. Excess
water should be removed by sweeping or wet-vacuuming.
3. Recommended solution for shampoo cleaning in a commercial shampooer is one
cup washing machine detergent, one cup household ammonia and one gallon of warm
water.
Removing Foodstuff,
Beverage Stains and the like
1. Mix strong concentration of detergent with any commercial bleach such as
Clorox, Purex, or similar product.
2. Scrub viperously with hand brush.
3. Wet-vacuum thoroughly to remove excess water.
Removing Chewing
Gum
Chewing gum can be removed by freezing with ice or Freon spray and chipping
out with a putty knife. Clean up residue with detergent or solvent.
Removing Cigarette
Burns
If cigarette burns are not badly charred, a wire brush can be used to brush
up the nap. Should this prove unsatisfactory, remove the burned strip or tile
fro mthe floor, (use knife or ice pick to lift up), and insert new material
as required by applying adhesive. Because of the small area involved, repaired
areas can usually be walked on after five or ten minutes drying time. Any excess
adhesive can be cleaned up with Paint Thinner or Mineral Spirits.
CAUTION:
It is extremely IMPORTANT that there be AMPLE VENTILATION when using Paint Thinner,
Mineral Spirits, Cleaner-Sealer products or Adhesive.
