Prestige Entrance Mats & Grates - Template Requirements:

Templates for mat or grate fabrications are required whenever the area to be receive the mat or grate is of an off shape; i.e. those including circular or radius cuts, or in certain situations where the mill requests a template.

Acceptable Template Materials:
1. 1/8” thick Masonite.
2. Linoleum without tears.
3. Corrugated cardboard sheets; unrolled and unbent and without any tears.

Frames must be installed prior to template fabrication since dimensions can change slightly when frames are installed, which will affect the size of the mat or grate.

Templates must be supplied complete; i.e. they must include the entire opening of the recessed mat or grate well. In no case will partial templates be accepted.

If the recessed opening is larger than the material being used to construct the template, cut the template material into sections and label the match lines. The sections should have no overlapped lines and the seams should butt up to each other evenly. All cut outs must be made on the template and not merely drawn in.

It is required that the following information be written on the template:
1. Which side of the template is face up.
2. The traction direction; i.e. the direction in which people will be walking across the mat or grate.
3. All dimensions.
4. Purchase Order Number.
5. Customer Name.
6. Job Name.
7. Indicate if the template is for a mat or for a grate.

All templates should be of the inside dimensions or opening dimensions of the recessed well.

All cuts in the template must be clean and true and the edges should not be bent, torn or frayed. Templates made out of tarpaper, resin paper, regular paper or Styrofoam will not be acceptable.

If templates are made well, the resulting mat or grate will fit inside the frame or recess properly.
