Dynamic Horse Stall Mats Installation Guidelines: These installation guidelines are intended to enable the installer to install the Dynamic Horse Stall Mats so that the resulting floor surface will be as tight as possible, thus providing optimal comfort for the horse to keep ongoing maintenance and cleaning to a minimum.
Tools Needed: Chainsaw or sawsaw, tape measure, mat driver such as a piece of lumber.
Positioning of Mats: Even though the dimensions and construction of horse stalls vary considerably from barn to barn, the following guidelines can ensure the optimal positioning of the mats. The most critical factor in providing a tight installation is making certain that there is not a seam between adjoining mats that occurs in the doorway to the stall. (This is not critical if there is a threshold at the doorway that would hold the mats position anyway). The six foot length of one mat should span the doorway. Thus, the positioning of the doorway of the stall determines how the mats should be positioned in the stall for maximum tightness.
If any mat needs to be cut, use the chainsaw or sawsaw to cut. When cutting pieces, allow for a 1/2" overlap at the edges of adjoining mats. Any smaller pieces or strips of mat should be positioned in the center of the stall not at the edges. Any lighter weight pieces installed along the edge might provide the horse an opportunity to kick that piece up out of position, thus disturbing the tightness of the installation and allowing bedding material and manure to get under the mats.
To fit adjoining mats, pieces of mats, lift the adjoining edges until the under surfaces meet, then force the edges down to the floor using the mat driver if necessary.
Following the above guidelines will provide the most comfortable most maintenance friendly floor coving available in the equine care industry.
