Installation Guideleines for Monarchy Mats, Matting and Carpet Squares

Installation Guideleines for Monarchy Mats, Matting and Carpet Squares:

INSTALLATION: CARPET SQUARES OR A/K/A TILES
Before laying tiles, it is recommended they are stored at room temperature 60°F-70°F (15°C-20°C). The tiles can be loose laid on flat, dry floors free from impurities such as oil, grease etc. Cracked floors should be filled, and uneven floors covered with hardboard. Dusty floors should be primed. Because of the high insulation value of these tiles it is not recommended that they be laid when under-floor heating systems are in use. On very large installations, it is advisable to secure 1 in 5 rows with double-sided tape. Where tiles are to be used under caster chairs, tiles should be fully secured. The tiles may be laid by marking across in the center of the room and working outwards from this, the marker cross may be moved to facilitate the use of full tiles in doorways, etc. Tiles must be laid by turning alternate tiles through 90 degrees to obtain a checker pattern. An arrow on the back of each tile indicates the pile direction. Only tiles with the same batch number should be laid together.

INSTALLATION: Mat or Roll Matting installation
Tool Requirement:
1. Tape measure
2. Utility knife
3. Straight edge
4. Caulk line
5. 150 lb. three section roller
6. Multi Purpose adhesive

Guidelines:
1. Roll goods should be removed from shipping packaging, unrolled to lay flat and acclimatize in installation area whenever possible. Reverse rolling the product often times aids in relaxing the roll memory of the product. Floor covering and adhesive must be at room temperature or 65°F for 48 hours prior to and after installation.

2. Floor must be sound and should be stripped of all waxes and floor finishes, and should be clean, dry and free of debris prior to installation. Use quality latex/Portland cement based type-patching compound to fill or level any irregular areas in the sub floor. Never sand resilient floors, they may contain asbestos.

3. Important! Be sure to install with material in the same pile direction. Inspect all rolls for damage prior to beginning installation. Report damage before cutting or installing.

Installation Instructions:
1. Determine centerline in both North – South, and East – West directions of area to be covered in roll goods. Then determine roll seams lines, snap caulk lines for alignment of roll edges.

2. Spread adhesive with a 1/8” x 1/16” V-notched trowel. Apply only as much adhesive that can be installed within 30 minutes

3. Begin at the roll seam line closest to the center and work to the outside. Unroll product from center out to ends. Press roll-goods firmly into adhesive and butt seams tightly.
Note: seam sealer is not required. A “serpentine cut” can be used to completely hide seams. Trim to fit on outside edges with a utility knife that has a sharp lade.

4. Roll installed roll goods in both directions with a 150 lb three section roller.

5. Inspect to insure that there are no gaps and product is flat and securely in place.
