Flamestop Fire protective coatings are pyrolitic and intumescent paint formulations that prevent flame from spreading by developing a self-extinguishing reaction. Since Flamestop products are mostly penetrants, they will actually become part of the substrate and bond to its molecular structure where most fire retardant coatings can and will eventually deteriorate. Flame Stop™ flame retardant products are economical to apply because they only require one application incorporating low pressure spraying equipment in comparison with most flame retardant chemicals and paint that require 2 or 3 applications with high-pressure spraying equipment. Flamestop™ Fire retardants are user friendly this is why they are shipped ready to use. Fire retarding paint or intumescent paint can be applied as a top coat to achieve 30 minute ratings on wood.
Safety should be number one for the protection of the public as well as the installer. The entire area of toxicity of firestops and fire retardants and also a failure to stop thermal transmission, which is why every product in the Flame Stop line including the flame retardant spray and intumescent paint are non-toxic.
