ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE -
Seals and adheres rubber mats. It is a two component elastometric flexible
polyurethane sealant which forms a tough, highly flexible and abrasive
resistant seal. Formulated specifically to seal mat seams and edge openings,
it has excellent adhesion and stops permeation of moisture and contaminants,
increases health and safety as well as eliminates subsurface respiratory
toxins.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE is supplied in convenient two and ten gallon kits.
The two or ten gallon kits consist of:
PART A (Black Liquid) 1 gallon can
or 5 gallon can
PART B (Viscous Liquid) 1 gallon can or 5 gallon can
I.
Remove sealing rings from all one gallon cans using a hand-held can
opener.
2. Pour equal amounts by volume of Part B into equal
amounts by volume of Part A. Mix
with electric or air drill
and jiffy mixer until evenly mixed.
3. Carefully scrape down sides and bottom of container
using a flat spatula.
4. Mix again for thirty seconds.
5. Apply ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE with a notched trowel
(held at 60° to 80° angle) or a
squeegee; or for sealing seams, pour mixture into disposable dispenser's
(suggest heavy duty zipper freezer bags, one or two gallon size).
6. ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE initially is very low viscosity;
however, it soon attains a creamy gel-Iike consistency and is ready
for application.
Each batch has a twenty to
thirty minute working life, depending on the ambient temperature.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE is a two
component urethane sealant provided in "Do It Yourself' kit form.
It is formulated at a 1 to 1 ratio and is the recommended sealant for
adhering rubber pavers, rubber mats, and Tennis Shoe Flooring. ULTRASEAL
ADHESIVE provides a sealed flooring and wall system which is easily
cleaned, disinfected, and sanitized. A variety of colors are available.
PREPARE THE SURFACE
Ill-prepared surfaces prevent proper bonding of the adhesive and can
result in project failure.
Remove all dirt, grease, wax, oil, and mat release from surfaces. Newly
poured concrete must
cure for a minimum of21 days. Newly laid blacktop should be in good
condition and structurally
sound. Paint, concrete sealers, and curing agents must be removed or
thoroughly sanded prior to installation. Excessive moisture in concrete
or oil in blacktop will prevent adhesion of
ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE to the subsurface. Regardless of the surface used,
it must be clean, dry, and structurally sound.
Rubber pads, mats and pavers
often has a mold release agent on the product's surface. which inhibits
ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE from being able to bond properly. The following procedure
is recommended to correct this situation:
1. Abraid the surface of the pad using an electric
drill and wire brush.
2. Clean surface thoroughly using Toluene to
remove any oils and powdered rubber .
. 3. Apply Ultraseal to the prepared area.
. 4. Allow to cure at least 12 hours before allowing
traffic on pads.
PLEASE NOTE: FOR BEST
ADHESION, ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE SHOULD NOT BE APPLIED ON DAMP SURFACES,
ON UNCLEAN SURFACES, OR UNDER EXCESSIVELY HUMID CONDITIONS. ALL OF THE
MAT SURFACES SHOULD BE CLEAN AND FREE OF MAT RELEASE AGENT, THE PRESENCE
OF WHICH IS A NORMAL PART OF THE MAT MANUFACTURING PROCESS, AND
PREFERABLY HAVE BEEN SCUFF SANDED BEFORE ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE IS APPLIED.
Ideally, maintain ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE, the sub-surface, and the mats
at 60 degree Fahrenheit or higher for 24 hours before, during, and after
installation. Apply ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE with a notched trowel (held at
60 to 80 degree angle), a brush, a roller, or a disposable dispenser.
Wear rubber gloves to keep hands clean and prevent possible skin irritation.
Use masking tape to cover areas that may accidentally come in contact
with adhesive. (An adhesion test patch is strongly recommended). Prepare
no more ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE than needed for the first mat until you have
a sense of how quickly the adhesive sets up. Set the first mat at the
comer, placing the mat onto the adhesive with a gentle motion. If adhering
the mats and sealing the seams, arrange the mats with a minimum of 3/8"
to 1/2" space on each side adjacent to each mat and wall. If adhering
mats to subsurface only, place first mat corner on marked layout line
into ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE and continue butting each succeeding mat against
mat or wall. Remove excess adhesive from between mats. Immediately clean
off any ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE sealant that oozes onto top of mat or paver
surface using Toluene or M.E.K. solvent. Put weight on any mat area
not flat or failing to make
contact with subsurface until ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE cures. (Note: Sand
bags work well for this purpose on sloped areas).
FINISH THE INSTALLATION
Allow at least 24 hours for the ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE adhesive to properly
cure. If the area must be used, cover it with a loose piece of plywood
before walking on the floor. To obtain a seamless, even mat surface,
fill any wall seams or open mat seams with ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE using
a disposable dispenser. Material comes out of dispenser readily and
is self leveling. Fill to an even surface between mats and between mats
and walls. The seamless sealant, ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE is a two-part urethane
elastomeric product with rapid
cure and superior sealing and adhesion properties. ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE
is stabilized against acids, salts, and alkalis. High elongation (325%)
assures seal and adhesion
when mat sections expand and contract with weather changes. Individual
components are color coded for ease of mixing. All seams, including
wall seams, are sealed using disposable dispensers (Ziploc or similar
freezer bags, 1 or 2 gallon size).
INSTALLATION WITHOUT FASTENING TO A BASE FLOOR SURF
To install on compacted surfaces, the surface should be compacted to
at least 90% compaction, level, without any holes, smooth, and even.
A mat installation is only as good as the surface on which it is installed.
Clean all edges and a minimum of 6" of the underneath side of the
mats with Toluene. (For best adhesion, it is also preferable if these
areas are also scuff sanded to a suede like texture, before setting
on adhesive). Lay a strip of textile matting or 6 mil plastic under
all seam areas. Apply an even application of ULTRASEAL ADHESIVE on the
textile matting, or plastic, where the first mat is to be installed.
If sealing seams, install all mats l/2" from walls, posts, drains,
etc., and other mats. Then refer to "FINISH THE INSTALLATION".
Recommended supplies: ruler,
straight edge (6' drywall square, ideal), razor knife (angle carpet
knife, ideal), masking tape, spacers 3/8" to Y2" (lathe strips
work well), mixer attached to electric drill, disposable gloves, protective
eyewear, disposable dispensers 1 or 2 gallon Ziploc bags (pour in bag
and cut off small corner), notched trowel, 1" putty knife, Toluene
or M.E.K. solvent for cleanup, disposable rags.
