Developed in recent years by the Eastman Chemical Company, Provista is a copolymer with many of the same attributes as PC. While not as strong as Polycarbonate, Provista has some advantages over Polycarbonate. It is generally less costly than Polycarbonate and is more environmentally friendly. Provista has no plasticizers or halogen-containing compounds and produces no toxic substances when burning. It is also compliant with FDA regulations for food contact applications and is more chemical resistant then Polycarbonate. Provista was created with extrusion work in mind, and is most often used in the production of clear extruded products such as point-of-purchase displays.
